Forest of Sound believes in being upfront about its Privacy Policy and how it treats the personal information of those that visit, use, and enjoy Forest of Sound’s website(s) and services (individually and collectively, "Services"). The following explains the privacy practices and policies for Forest of Sound’s Services accessible through forestofsound.com or its subdomains (Site”) and other Services provided by Forest of Sound.

By using the Services – even just by browsing the Site – you agree to be bound by Forest of Sound’s Terms of Use, our Privacy Policy, all applicable laws and all conditions or policies referenced here. Forest of Sound may amend the Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy at any time by posting a revised version(s) on our Site. Access to or continued use of the Services after the effective date of the revised Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy.

“User” “You” or “Your” refers to anyone using the Services.
“Parent” refers to a parent or legal guardian of a User under the age of 18.
“Lesson Program” means any classes, lesson plans, courses, or learning programs and related Services.

What We Collect

Forest of Sound processes information of those that visit the Site in order to effectively run our business and to administer and provide our Services and its content to our Users. In order for you to use our Services, we need to collect and process some information.

Depending on your use of the Services, the information we collect and process may include:

  • Information (such as your name, email and postal addresses, telephone number, and country of residence) that you provide by completing forms on the Site, subscribe to our newsletters, upload or submit any material through the Site, or request any information.

  • Your credit card and payment information.

  • Details of any requests or transactions you make through the Services.

  • Information about your activity on an interaction with Forest of Sound, such as your IP address and the type of device

  • Communications you send to us, for example, when you send us questions or comments, or report a problem.

  • All correspondence related to your communications with Forest of Sound.

  • Lesson Programs that you have enrolled in and/or expressed interest.

  • Video and audio recordings of your image and voice that may be recorded during the course of a Lesson Program.

  • Video and audio recordings of your musical performances, lessons and practices.

  • Any photos or images that you voluntarily provide.

  • Voluntarily provided “about me” information.

  • Notes and comments you provide when enrolling in, or during the course of a Learning Program.

  • Personal information such as banking and credit card information.

  • Transaction information and content streaming activity.

  • Location of your device.

  • Search history and preference information.

  • Activity information related to your use when you visit and use the Site.

Forest of Sound collects information when you access the Site, through cookies and other technology (refer to our Cookie Policy), third-party connection through social media sites, other third-party applications and platforms.

Forest of Sound may use this information for reasons such as, to communicate with Users about their transactions, to improve and promote Forest of Sound’s Services, marketing and promotion, to assist Forest of Sound improve its Services, and to allow for personalized content, security and compliance.

This data will not be publicly displayed or revealed to other Users:

  • Your name, address, and date of birth.

  • Your phone number.

  • Your email.

  • Any payment, banking and credit card information you provide.

We don't give your personal information to any third-party services, except when it's necessary to provide Forest of Sound's Services (like when we partner with payment processors). When we share data with third-party services that contribute our delivery of the Forest of Sound Services, we require that they protect your personal information to the same standards we do. We do reserve the right to disclose personal information when we believe that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or law enforcement, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect Forest of Sound's legal rights.

Uses Of Your Personal Information

We may use the personal information you provide to:

  • Identify you when you use the Services.

  • Enable us to provide you with the Services, as well as to improve and promote the Services.

  • We may retain your Site usage history and use details of the pages you have previously visited to make suggestions which we believe you will also be interested in.

  • We may retain and evaluate information on your recent visits to our Site and how you move around different sections of our Site for analytics purposes to understand how people use our Site so that we can make it more intuitive.

  • We may keep a record of the articles and clips on our Site that you have clicked on and use that information to target advertising on this Site to you that is relevant to your interests, which we have identified based on what you have read and watched.

  • Send you marketing communications we think you may find useful, but only in accordance with your email preferences.

  • Enable us to contact you regarding any question you make through the Services.

  • Analyze the use of the Services and the people visiting to improve our content and Services.

  • Forest of Sound will retain your information as necessary to provide you with the Services and for the purposes set out in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, or as may be necessary to comply with our legal obligations, to address and respond to disputes, and to otherwise enforce and protect Forest of Sound’s rights.

 

We take securing your data and preserving your privacy very seriously. We never post anything to your Facebook, Twitter, or other third-party accounts without your permission.

We do not and will not sell your data.

Children’s Privacy

​

Forest of Sound’s children’s privacy policy is in accordance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”), and outlines our practices in the United States regarding Children’s Personal Data. We collect children’s personal data directly from Parents, when we secure a verified consent of the Parent. Parents are expected to choose the child’s Lesson Program, and monitor their participation in the Lesson Programs and participation on any of the Service platforms, including any public forum related to the Services. Children cannot enroll or register in any Lesson Program. And Children can only enroll in a Lesson Program that a Parent has chosen for them. 

 

Once we obtain verified parental consent, we may recommend classes and other features to Parents and Children based on the child’s progress on our Site. Once we obtain verified parental consent, we may send these messages to Children and Parents through push notifications if Parents enable this feature. We may also send emails to Parents about those recommendations and surveys and informational emails to Parents and Children. We do not, however, send promotional emails to Children or allow third-party analytics or advertising providers to collect personal data.

 

Children’s video and voice (and musical performances) may be recorded by us and shared with other students. Since virtual backgrounds obscure the instructor’s ability to see the Child playing their musical instrument, Parents should be careful about images or anything else that might appear on-camera that might reveal personal and family information. Children may also share information about themselves with the instructor and the rest of their classmates during a learning session voluntarily, including content, images, and videos they may upload and share with their instructor and classmates. While we expect Instructors and all other Users to follow by our terms of conduct, and we take reasonable steps to monitor certain communications and posts, please note that we are not able to control or monitor all personal data your Child may share, nor what those third parties ultimately do with that information.

 

Forest of Sound urges Parents to talk to your children and follow our Community Guidelines, when posting content or information on our Site and Services. You should encourage your children to also think about their own privacy and safety when choosing what to share with others. In particular, children should be encouraged to avoid sharing personal information like their address or contact information.

 

Parents should review any content (such as photos and art), along with any other information about their Child that is publicly displayed. Forest of Sound is not responsible for what third parties do with any information that is publicly shared.

 

Forest of Sound will send a direct notice with these privacy disclosures and obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting, using, and sharing personal data from your child as described in this notice. 

 

Forest of Sound requires that you provide your credit or banking card information to verify you and to register your child for and pay for any Lesson Programs.

At any time, you can review and refuse to permit us to collect further personal data from your children in association with your account. You can also request that we delete from our records the personal data we have collected in connection with that account. Please keep in mind that a request to delete records may lead to a termination of an account, membership, or other service. You may review and update certain of your child’s information by logging onto your account. In your account, you can review topics of interest we have inferred based on your child’s likes and past Lesson Programs. You can choose to opt-out of recommendations based on your Child’s activities and instead choose the learning topics you want to hear about. You can contact us to request access to, change, or delete your child’s personal data, or revoke consent for our collection, use, and sharing of personal data, by sending an email to us at info@forestofsound.com. A valid request to delete personal data will be accommodated within a reasonable time.

Users Outside the United States

 

If you are visiting the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. By using Forest of Sound’s Services and visiting the Site, you consent to your information being transferred to the United States and as described in this Policy.
